Until recently The Salvation Army had never been formally established in Greece. In October 2007, General Shaw Clifton decided that The Salvation Army should 'open fire' in Greece and he appointed Captains Polis Pantelidis and Maria Konti-Galinou to commence the work of The Salvation Army in Thessaloniki.
